Funeral Mass for Mary Kay Hoopingarner, 85, of Mentor, a homemaker, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lake Shore Blvd., Mentor. Mrs. Hoopingarner died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at her residence.
Born Feb. 7, 1923, in Cleveland, she had lived in Cleveland before moving to Mentor 55 years ago.


She was a graduate of Ursuline College with bachelor's degrees in chemistry and English. She was a member of St. Bede the Venerable Church, where she was the former organist and vocalist. She was also a 10 year trustee of the Mentor Public Library during its growing years, a enthusiastic member of the Wildwood Singers in Mentor, loved to sing, play the piano, read and garden. She dearly loved her children and their spouses, grandchildren and her home in Mentor.
Mrs. Hoopingarner was a former plastics development chemist for BF Goodrich Chemical Company in Cleveland.
 

Survivors are her children, Bob (Marianne) Hoopingarner of Sarasota, Fla., Tim (Sandy) Hoopingarner of Centennial, Colo., Jim Hoopingarner of Mentor, Mary Hoopingarner of Mentor, Ann Hoopingarner of Sagamore Hills and Kevin (Lynne) Hoopingarner of Wickliffe; and three grandchildren, Allegra, Hanna and Kevin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Hoopingarner; and brother, John Phillips.


Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
