Joyce McKoon, 80, who lived with her daughter in Warren, Pa., died Monday morning, April 21, 2008, at Warren Manor Nursing Home after a brief stay.

Mrs. McKoon was born Feb. 16, 1928, in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Marion Marvin and Byrnece Hazel Winter Burnette, both from Missouri. A longtime resident of Mentor Headlands, Mrs. McKoon was active in the Headlands Elementary School's PTA, Mentor Council of the Girl Scouts of America and the Republican Party. She also served as a voting registrar. Mrs. McKoon was employed by Painesville's Rayon Manufacturing Corporation for nine years.

Survivors are her three children, Linda (Forrest) Becket of Warren, Pa., Valerie (Robert) Koll of Syracuse, N.Y., and Scott McKoon of Fairport Harbor; brother, John (Ann) Burnette of Willowick; grandchildren, Christopher (Tina) O'Hara of Sandusky, Kimberly (Sean) Barry of Camillus, N.Y., Kevin O'Hara of Warren, Pa., Amanda (Kevin) Caldwell of Baldwinsville, N.Y., Clint (Susan) McKoon of Perry, Jaimie McKoon of Westland, Mich., and Courtney McKoon of Perry; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vern Earl McKoon, to whom she was married to for 35 years, until his death in 1981; and sister, Sharon.

Friends may call at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren, Pa., Friday, April 25, 2008, one hour prior to the service, which is to be held at 1 p.m. Rev. Kevin Haley, Pastor of Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor (440) 255-3401. Interment will be in Concord Township Cemetery.
