Funeral Mass for John J. Musial, age 83, of Kirtland, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, at Chapel of the Divine Word, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland.  Mr. Musial died May 10, 2008, in the Palliative Care Center of the Cleveland Clinic.  He was born June 21, 1924, in Uniontown, Pa., he lived with his family for 42 years in Kirtland.

He served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians and Cavaliers.  Mr. Musial was the co-founder and president of Transcon Inc., in Mentor for 49 years, and also founded and built Powderhorn Golf Course in Madison.

Survivors are his beloved family: his wife of 58 years, Sophia Musial; son, John L. (Colleen) Musial of Painesville; daughters, Patricia (Roy) Gogolin of Mentor, Kathleen (Bob) McNamara of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Marian (Patrick) Beirne of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, John and Michael Musial, Ryan (Lori) Gogolin, Kathryn (Steve) Reynolds, Alix, Daniel and Jacob McNamara, and Joseph, Christopher and Shannon Beirne; great-grandsons, Luke and Thomas Gogolin; sisters, Marcella Caton of Wickliffe and Veronica (Bob) Hanyo of Uniontown, Pa.; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his infant son, Joseph; and his parents, John and Anna Musial.

Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Brunner Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. Burial will be at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
