Funeral service for Philip A. Soukup, age 87, formerly of Mentor, will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2008 at Brunner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.  Mr. Soukup died April 15, 2008, at Arden Courts in Bainbridge Township.  He was born in 1920, he lived in Cleveland and East Cleveland before moving to Mentor in 1968.

He was employed in the engineering department at Towmotor/Caterpillar Corp. for over 32 years until his retirement in 1974.  A World War II veteran, Philip served in the U.S. Army from October 1942 through December 1945, primarily in New Guinea and the Philippines.

A man of may interests, Philip enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography, archery, bowling, lapidary, jazz, reading and "COLLECTING". He was a member of the Geauga Bowmen, Ohio Decoy Carvers and Collectors Assn. (ODCCA), Old Reel Collectors Assn. (ORCA), and a lifetime member of the National Fishing Lure Collectors Club (NFLCC).

He is survived by his daughters, Peggy (Tom) Hannan of Chagrin Falls and Karyn (Jim) Feeley of North Ridgeville and son, Paul Soukup of Altoona; grandchildren, Lauri (Eric) Kittelson of Streetsboro, Wendy (Mike) Zurca of Aurora, Pam Hannan (Craig) of Indianapolis, Patti (Jon) Gingo of Houston, Megan (Lito) Carabello of North Ridgeville, Pat Feeley of Cleveland, Kathy Feeley of Los Angeles and Clare Soukup of Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Kristi (Scott) Dickerson, Stephanie and Lisa Zurca, James Beedle, Anthony and Kailey Gingo and Dale Soukup; and great-great-grandchildren, Molly and Ryan Dickerson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mimi Soukup; brother, William Soukup; and former wife, Ruth (Paul) Reisinger.

Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
