Cynthia J. Burden

March 20, 1926 - October 15, 2014

Cynthia J. Burden, age 88, of Mentor passed away peacefully Wednesday October 15, 2014 at Hospice House in Cleveland. She was born March 20, 1926 in Coshocton, OH.

Mrs. Burden was a school teacher for many years. She taught in the Mentor School System for 13 years and the Willoughby Eastlake School System for 19 years. She was a great inspiration to all her students she encountered over the years. She graduated from Willoughby Union High School in 1943 and went on to attend Hiram College, Western Reserve University and Kent State University. She received her elementary education degree from Lake Erie College and majored in theatre throughout her college life. She was a director and actress at the Studio Theatre in Painesville and the Marpian Players in Mentor. Cynthia was a lifetime member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, The Daughters of American Revolution and the Society for Colonial Dames.

Survivors are her husband of 44 years Robert L. Burden; children Deborah (Carl) Lambein, Donna (Craig) Schaefer, Patti (Rex) Gile, Susan (Don) Billings, Christine Burden and Rob (Joyce) Burden. She is also survived by 12 loving grandchildren 15 loving great grandchildren; her brother Norman (Margaret) Robson; her sister Barbara Robson and her sister in law Bargie Robson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Phedora Robson and her brother Dr. John Robson.

A celebration of Cynthia’s life will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
