Elaine M. Burns

November 11, 1941 - March 4, 2022

Elaine M. Burns, 80, of Mentor, passed away March 4, 2022 at her home. She was born November 11, 1941 in Cleveland to the late Frank and Josephine Tomsic. Elaine was a dedicated public servant with the City of Mentor for 25 years, before she retired from the Clerk of Council in May 2004. Her family and her grandchildren remain her greatest gifts. Her hobbies include playing Mahjong, golf, Samba lessons, and luncheons with her girlfriends. She was an avid reader and always enjoyed a sparring discussion on history and sharing her latest movie, series, or book adventures. With her love for golf, she always enjoyed playing, watching, and discussing the sport, and she was always happy to get out and swing a club. Her circle of friends extends back to her Collinwood days, with memorable milestones marking every aspect of her years as a young bride, new mom, a mom balance work/life, and well into the adventures and joys of being a grandmother. Survivors include her daughter, Renee (Michael) Kloski; son, Craig (Kerri) Burns; grandchildren, Lauren, Emma, Madeline, Sidney, William; and her brother, Franklyn (Ruby) Tomsic. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Burns. A memorial mass to honor Elaine’s life will be held 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp., OH 44060 (Please meet at the church.) Private family inurnment will be in All Souls Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Elaine, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
