Elaine Marie (nee Patenaude) Dubois

February 26, 1931 - April 18, 2022

Elaine Marie (nee Patenaude) Dubois, age 91 of Mentor, passed away April 18, 2022 at the Enclave of Newell Creek in Mentor. She was born February 26, 1931 to the late Aime and Lillian (nee Bachand) Patenaude. As a woman who embodied a combination of tender love, devotion to family, strong Catholic faith, untiring work ethic, and pure joy of life, Elaine’s great gift was making everyone feel special. She was fun to be around. As a mother to five sons, she maintained the grace of humor while remaining ever the lady. She shared her artistic flair in many ways but most notably through painting, poetry, silly notes and impeccably arranged tables for family gatherings. Grandchildren particularly enjoyed her creativity through projects unique to each and by making their special sandwiches. Elaine was an advocate and supporter of the Deepwood and Sandusky Board of Developmental Disabilities in support of her son, Francis, and to give a voice to the needs of other developmentally disabled children. Additionally, she served as Treasurer for the Lake County Association for Retarded Citizens (LCARC). She was a member of the Wildwood Garden Club and was a frequent blood donor to the American Red Cross. She is survived by Raymond Dubois, her loving husband of 69 years; sons, Deacon Thomas and his wife, Deborah, Matthew, Craig and his wife, Claudia, Francis, Clifford and his wife, Amy, plus nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Naomi Thomas, and brothers, Donald, Edwin and Robert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am Tuesday April 26, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Please meet at church. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Monday April 25, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. All are welcome to participate in a funeral vigil prayer service that same evening from 6:30 to 7 pm. Interment will be in Mentor Cemetery.
