James F. Ackerman

June 5, 1932 - November 30, 2021

James F. Ackerman Jr., 89, a long-time Lake County resident, died November 30, 2021 at University Hospitals TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Twp. He was born June 5, 1932 in Cleveland. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran who proudly served his country. After his years of service, he went on to manage several manufacturing plants as a Plant Manager at Ryan Industries, Van Dorn, and Arrow Manufacturing. His hobbies included collecting German Steins and showing classic British MG’s. Jim enjoyed spending time with family and his golden retrievers, Barrington and Brady, going on vacations, and spoiling Doris. Survivors include his wife, Doris (nee Fike) Ackerman; children, Cindy Luoma, and Teresa Lyden; grandchildren, Jessica (Pablo) Carmona, Kelly (Chris Sands) Luoma, Meghan (Tim) Hartinger, Katie Lyden, and Kyle Lyden; great-grandchild, Laura Carmona; sister, Jeanne Egensperger; and his brothers, Thomas (Martie) Ackerman, Charles (Domenica) Ackerman, and Neil (Ellen) Ackerman. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Eunice Ackerman, his brother, Arthur Ackerman and his son-in-law, Jeff Lyden. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service in memory of James will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Painesville United Methodist Church, 71 North Park Place., Painesville, OH 44077. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to the Organization for Autism Research 2111 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 401, Arlington, VA 22201.
