John C. Bodmer

John C. Bodmer, age 82 of Kirtland, passed away February 24, 2021 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. He was born on June 3, 1938 in Cleveland, OH to the late Rudolph and Louise (Lutz) Bodmer. John was an avid University of Michigan fan. He had worked for the Bailey Meter Company for 40 years. He had served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was a member of the Kirtland Kiwanis International, and as a member he was instrumental in launching new clubs as well as overseeing the annual Strawberry Festival for many years. John loved his community and the schools. He was the long time announcer for the Kirtland High School Marching Band, he had coached the Kirtland High School softball team, worked the clock for multiple high school sports teams, and had also been a member of the Kirtland School Board. Mr. Bodmer was an active member of Christ Presbyterian Church in Chesterland where he volunteered in many capacities at the church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Hoffman); daughters, Karen (John) Perko, Carole (Howard) Karikas and Cheryl Bodmer; grandchildren, Stephen, Kelly, David, John, and Jarred and identical twin brother, Jim Bodmer. A private funeral service will be held at Christ Presbyterian Church. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kirtland Kiwanis, 9165 Chillicothe Rd., Kirtland OH 44094 or to Christ Presbyterian Church, 12419 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, OH 44026.
