John "Jack" Ford

John “Jack” Ford, 91, of Concord, sailed his last voyage May 6, 2022 at University Hospitals TriPoint Medical Center. He was born December 5, 1930 in Chardon, Ohio to the late Frank and Florence Ford. John served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1951-1954. He returned to the U.S. to complete his studies in Electronics and Radio Communication and became a communications officer in the U.S. Merchant Marines until he retired in 1993. John loved animals, playing chess, reading, and collecting clocks from all over the world. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Carol Ford (nee: Kraschneske); children, Megan (Richard) Dorenkott and Eric Ford; grandchildren, Evan, Leon and Jason Dorenkott; nephew, Steven (Teresa) Ford; sisters-in-law, Judith (Robert) Ford, Beth (John) Fisher, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Preceding John in death is his brother, Robert J. Ford, nephew, F. Aaron Ford; cousins, Barbara Ricca and Charline (Robert) Heiden. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. The burial will take place at 2:15 pm on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Rd., Seville, Ohio, 44273. Please meet at the entrance of the cemetery.
