Joyce M. (nee Sauvie) Palmer

February 14, 1933 - February 13, 2021

Joyce M. (nee Sauvie) Palmer, age 87 of Mentor, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Tri Point Medical Center in Concord Twp. She was born on February 14, 1933 in Flint, Michigan. After Joyce graduated high school, she enlisted and served in the US Air Force. It was her desire to travel that led her to this decision and it was here where she would meet and marry her husband Art. She was honorably discharged after she was married and became pregnant with her first child. This changed her role to full time homemaker, where she excelled because she had the patience of an angel. After the birth of four more daughters, she continued making a loving and happy home. Although she was busy taking care of a large family, she still took time to volunteer. She started and led a Girl Scout troop out of St. Gabriel School. She also volunteered for Clothe-a-Child for many years. That was who she was – endless giving. Joyce loved the simple pleasures in life. She loved music, Englebert Humperdinck was one of her favorites. She liked to dance and enjoyed golfing. She was fortunate to go on many trips with her husband, Art, her daughters and six grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildrens' school programs and athletic events. Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Arthur; children, Camilla (Dave) Baker, Cindy (Joe) Palmer, Janet (Keith) Crittle, Diane Palmer, Debbie (Mike) Hoffart and grandchildren, Vince (fiancee Jayne), Ryan, Jamie, Rachel, Rheannon and Mike. She was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Stacey Sauvie, brothers Jim and Ed and sister Barbara. The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged during all publicly attended events. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am Thursday, February 18, 2021, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord, OH 44077. Please meet at the church. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged during all publicly attended events. Interment will follow in Mentor Cemetery, Mentor, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joyce may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 23215 Commerce Park Suite 300, Beachwood, Ohio 44122. “Please, please, don't cry. This is just adios and not good bye.” Please offer condolences at www.brunners.com
