Karen S. Berry

September 11, 1949 - March 10, 2022

Karen S. Berry, 72, of Concord Twp., died March 10, 2022 at Heather Hill Care Communities. She was born September 11, 1949 in Cleveland. Karen worked as a Seventh Grade Language Arts teacher, and was also President of Riverside Local Education Association, Coordinator of Washington D.C. field trips, Coordinator of Power of the Pen at LaMuth Middle School, in the Riverside Local School District, aka Painesville Township Schools. She was inducted into the Class of 2021 Riverside Hall of Fame. Her hobbies were enjoying family and friends, reading, word games with friends, Bible study at First Church Congregational, Painesville, and playing cards at Quail Hollow Country Club with friends. She was involved in many committees at First Church Congregational, Painesville and was also a member of the International Society for Key Women Educators, Delta Kappa Gamma. She also belonged to several book clubs and card clubs. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Berry; children, Chuck (Cari) Berry, Renee (Michael) Sferra and Eileen McGhee; grandchildren, Ellie, Charlie, Kate, Cassius, Atticus, Delaney, Greyson and Sawyer; her sister, Deborah (Lyle) Shull and nieces, Stefanie (Tim) Alvord, Meredith (Todd) Moyers and Susan (Dennis) Greeley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jean Russell. A memorial service will be held in memory of Karen on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 11 a.m. at First Church Congregational, 22 Liberty St., Painesville, OH 44077. Inurnment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to InMotion, a community-based group approach to help people with Parkinson’s disease (PD) feel better every day at 23905 Mercantile Road Beachwood, OH, 44122 or First Church Congregational, 22 Liberty St., Painesville, OH 44077.
