Leonard M. "Leo" Caito

July 5, 1963 - May 27, 2021

Leonard M. “Leo” Caito age 57 of Madison, formerly of Mentor, passed away Thursday May 27, 2021 at Regency Hospital, Cleveland East from complications of Covid. He was born July 5, 1963 in Cleveland, OH. Leo wore many hats during his lifelong work history, from over 30 years at Caito Insurance Group to his lifelong passion in the restaurant industry. He served as waiter, cook, bartender and manager for several local iconic establishments: Mountain Jack’s, The Dock, and Pickle Bills, to his most recent days at The Wagon Wheel and The Elks Club. Affectionately known as “Crash”, this was the perfect industry for his personality and talents due to his love and interest in people; coupled with cooking which was a talent of his he inherited and shared with his Dad. He was a jokester that made those around him laugh; with a warm smile and laugh that was infectious. He enjoyed meeting different types of people from all walks of life; a good listener that made those he met feel like they just made a friend. He loved a good conversation, especially about sports, music, or history to name a few of his favorite topics. A hard worker and a strong work ethic are things he never lacked. He enjoyed sharing music with his friends and on social media for all to enjoy and reminisce over. He enjoyed hanging out with friends and socializing; he was a strong man with a big heart who never met a stranger. He enjoyed collecting pictures of giraffes, unique pieces of art, putting model airplanes and cars together and painting them, planting flowers and gardening, a die-hard fan of the Browns, Indians, and NASCAR with a collection of baseball cards and old newspaper clippings to prove it. In what little spare time he had, Leo became an amateur genealogist, tracing his family history back to Sicily. Most of all, and his biggest accomplishments were his children as anyone that has met him knows well. His proudest moments in life were watching his children graduate, his daughter buying her first home, and his son joining the National Guard. Survivors include his children: Gabrielle (Mason Kensinger) Caito and Cameron (Gwen Weaver) Caito, step-son: Brandon (Stephanie Droney) Cell, mother Dee Caito, brothers: Tony (Katie) Caito and Curt (Silke) Caito, nieces & nephews: Andrea (Joe) Sieracki, Cassie (Anthony) Hyman, T.J. (Bailey Worth) Caito, Megan (Cameron Furuseth) Caito, Jace Caito and Molly Caito and step-mother: Linda Caito. Preceding Leo in death is his father: Leo M. Caito and former wife: Toni Caito-McGlaughin. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral luncheon to celebrate Leo will be 1:30 pm Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Joey’s Italian Grill, 2731 Hubbard Road, Madison, OH 44057. Send flowers or offer condolences at www.brunners.com
