Mary Ellen Ellar

February 21, 1965 - March 28, 2022

Mary Ellen Ellar, 57, of Mentor, passed away March 28, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. She was born February 21, 1965 in Cleveland. Mary Ellen was the Vice President of Account Services at AMG in Solon. She had an unrelenting love of life and laughter with her many friends. Family was not only very special, but an absolute part of her life. She loved hosting family gatherings at her home, most recently a wonderful Christmas celebration. Mary Ellen was a long-time proud member of the Mentor Harbor Yacht Club and enjoyed many wonderful moments there with her late husband Scott, and the many friends made along the way. Her Core of 4 was very special and stretched back to her childhood, sharing many vacations and a few bottles of wine along the way. She always lit up when her Grandson John was in the house, and most recently enjoyed her trip to see ”Lion King” with him. Her dog Bonnie (“Bonnie Girl”) was by her side always. Mary Ellen treasured her family, friends, fine wine, and great music. She loved the “Boss” and country music. She loved working in her garden and yard and was very proud of the improvements she was always making. Survivors include her stepson, Benjamin (Meghan) Ellar; step-grandson, John Ellar; siblings, Gary (Cathy) Bush, Diane (Neal) Mayer, and Karen (Gary Schoeniger) Bush; nieces and nephews, Amy Bush, Megan (Andrew) Recker, Evan (Colleen) Bush, Jillian Bush, and Nick (Lauren) Mayer; and her aunt and God Mother, Judith Valliere. She was preceded in death by her husband, Scott Ellar; parents, Walter and Eileen Bush; and her sister-in-law, Connie Fisher. The family will receive friends from 12-5 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass in honor of Mary Ellen’s life will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2022 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060 (Please meet at the church.)
