Phillip Joseph Nainiger

December 16, 1941 - December 27, 2020

Phillip Joseph Nainiger December 16, 1941 – December 27, 2020 On December 27, 2020 at 7:05 p.m., Phillip Joseph Nainiger, 79, of Perry Village, Ohio, gently and gloriously “passed from death unto life” in the presence of his family at Lake Health West Medical Center in Willoughby, Ohio due to natural causes. Born on December 16, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to Philip & Marion Nainiger, Phillip grew up on Saranac Road in Cleveland. Typical of many neighborhood boys, he would sometimes hang out and play in the nearby train yards. Phillip graduated from Collinwood High School in 1960, and as a “Railroader,” he was involved in his alma mater’s Choral Club and is listed as a Sultan under his yearbook picture. Phillip was a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio, spending most of his earthly journey in Lake County. As a young man, Phillip served a term in the Ohio National Guard as a tank operator and is certainly remembered for his fondness and respect for our American Flag. He was blessed with lifelong employment at the Swagelok Company of Solon, Ohio where he began his career as a CNC Machinist and after an impressive 45 years of service, retired as a Quality Controlman. Phillip thought highly of his employer and often expressed his thankfulness that he never once suffered a single day of lay-off during his lengthy tenure with the company. As a loving and faithful husband, Phillip is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Judith Ann (Kovic) Nainiger, of Lake County, Ohio whom he referred to as his “beautiful angel.” As a loving and providing father, he is survived by his son, Phillip Joseph (Marcy) Nainiger of Stark County, Ohio and his three daughters, Tracy Susan (Shawn) Van Tassel, Amy Lynn Novak, and Judith Ann Lamperski, all of Lake County, Ohio. As a loving and benevolent grandpa, Phillip is survived by eleven grandchildren: John Daniel, Joshua, Caleb, Marcy Ann, Julianna, Luke, Logan, London, Tanner, Ryan, and Katrina. The eldest of three siblings, he is also survived by his sister, Mariann Kernc and Billy (Roni) Nainiger, both of Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Phillip will always be thought of as kind, humble, and mild-mannered. He possessed the noteworthy attributes of loyalness and faithfulness. He was a hard-working man and incredibly wise financially. Phillip loved to laugh and will always be remembered for his sense of humor. He enjoyed both studying and conversing about history (especially American) and just about anything related to the U.S. military. His favorite ice cream and milk shake flavor was the one that nobody else liked, namely black cherry! Above all else though, Phillip understood the biblical concept of eternal salvation, obtained only by the grace of God. He was led to the saving faith and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ by the late Pastor John Ashbrook. A private family graveside service will be held for Phillip at Perry Cemetery on Center Road, Perry Township, Ohio and will be officiated by his son. Condolences and fond memories may be shared online at www.brunners.com. Phillip’s family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Lake Health West Medical Center for their care provided during his final earthly moments. Our grief for our departed is not without consolation. Our separation from our beloved is not without an end. Those closest to Phillip are blessed with the assurance from God’s Holy Book that we will be reunited with him once again in the Lord’s time for we are not “as others which have no hope.” Although, we are very thankful for the pleasant memories that we have been given, undoubtedly, you will be missed! For now, though, rest peaceably, my dear husband, . . . rest peaceably, our dear dad, . . . rest peaceably, our dear grandpa, . . . rest peaceably in Jesus until we shall meet again. Amen! Arrangements entrusted to the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
