Sam S. “Toots” Bando Jr., age 95, of Highland Hts., died Monday June 15, 2020 at Mentor Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, Mentor. He was born April 24, 1925 in Cleveland, OH. Mr. Bando was a retired self-employed aluminum siding installer. He was a US Army WWII Veteran, serving in the European Theatre. Sam was a Cleveland sports fan who loved golfing, swimming, playing cards and riding his John Deere, with his grandchildren sitting on his lap. He loved the outdoors. His bright blue eyes, infectious smile, humorous laugh and constant teasing will be missed, but not forgotten. Sam cherished his family and friends and the people he lost along the way. His memory will live in our hearts, RIP Toots, we will miss you! He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years: Josephine (née Sorma) Bando, loving children: Gary Bando, Lynn Fiore, Sharon (Jeff Haddick) Bando, devoted grandchildren: John Iacano, Marissa Moon, Gina (Chuck Worsdall), Jennifer Fiore, Jimmy Fiore; great-grandchildren: Angelina Iacano, Nikki Iacano, Nathan Moon, Owen Moon, Parker Worsdall, Gia Worsdall; great-great grandchildren: Ava Nehas and Carson Iacano, sister: Rose Anselmo and loving uncle to three generations of nieces and nephews. Preceding Sam in death are his cherished parents: Salvatore and Rosie (née Dublo) Bando and 2 sisters and 7 brothers. Two separate private family inurnments will take place at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH at later dates. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Cleveland Clinic, Aberdeen Crossings Assisted Living, Mentor Ridge and Bella Care Hospice. In Sam’s honor, contributions can be made to Bella Care Hospice 1933 State Route 45, Austinburg, OH 44010.
