Silvio "Sil" Cornachione

December 12, 1927 - February 7, 2015

Silvio “Sil” Cornachione, age 87, of Mentor, formerly of Collinwood. Beloved husband, for the past 34 years, of Barbara Cornachione and the late Shirley (nee Waive) Cornachione, dear father of Craig (Barbara) Cornachione, Michael (Harriet) Cornachione, Thomas and David Cornachione, Robyn (Maarten) Buma, Christopher (Elizabeth) Cornachione and Kelly (Fiancé Carl Garritano) Cornachione, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, son of the late Domenic and Josephine Cornacchione, brother of Dante Cornacchione and the late Chris, Jim and Michael Cornacchione and numerous extended family and friends.

Sil was a graduate of Collinwood High School Class of 1945.

The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday, February 13, 2015 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH. 44060.

The funeral mass will be 10 am Saturday, February 14, 2015 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd, Concord Twp. Please meet at the church.

I remember all the family parties and just being a little kid that was very shy feeling a little overwhelmed but no one made you feel as accepted and loved as the Cornacchione family. I hope Uncle Sil and Grandpa are having a good time together....💛 you all.

I had the distinct pleasure of knowing Sil as an assistant coach at UT, but also as the father of two terrific young men,Craig and Mike! They were student athletes at Rogers high school in Toledo. It was my honor to coach them in football and get to know them as fine young men. My condolences to them,their families,as well as all of Sil`s offspring and relatives! Tom Guitteau Toledo,Ohio.

We were saddened to hear of Sil's passing...Such a kind, wise, and truly authentic man! We have memories of many meals shared and joyous family celebrations. Our lives are all the better for having crossed paths. Love to Barb, Robyn, Chris, Kelly and all Sil's children and their families. We will miss you Sil, but also know that you are in good company now and forever.

We want to extend our deepest sympathy to the family. My husband remembers Sil fondly for coaching him in football at Collinwood High School. Domenic is happy to say that he and Sil are both Hall of Famers at Collinwood High School.

Wanted to send thoughts and condolences from Ken, Mary, Trent, and Jillian Cornacchione. I have many found memories from childhood of all the family together and of Uncle Sil. We are sorry we can not make it this weekend as we are traveling to Cincinnati. Peace to all.

Sil was my Idol at Collinwood especially in the Gym. He encouraged me to become the best and helped me achieve a perfect score in several competitions. I was grateful to have had a chance to tell him that, in person. May he rest in peace. Jack Thomas

Sil was a great great guy. Lots of memories from soccer games, WHS concerts and BBQ in Webster. And going to the Who concert with Chris and Dave.

To the Family of Sil,
Wow, we sure did have many laughs and a lot of fun. My memory of Sil is that of man who was a devoted, proud dad, loving husband, and a dear, kind friend. One thing I will remember, in particular, is that he always spoke with pride about his family, his loved ones, and his accomplishments. Sil, was a great model on how to enjoy life! I have thought of Sil and his family often since we moved, but always during the Super Bowl. There was no party like the Cornachione Super Bowl Party! I will be lifting your family in prayers for their peace as you enter your Heavenly home! My life has been enriched by having Sil and his family a part of it
