Thomas P. Walsh, age 69, of Mentor, died January 12, 2021, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. He was born December 12, 1951, in Cleveland. Tom retired as the Chief Investigator for the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office in 2017 after 16 years of service. Prior to that, he had worked at the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, the Bratenahl Police Department; and the Mentor Police Department. Tom was a loving son, husband, dad and grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, cooking, golfing and vacationing in Arizona. He was a fun-loving man who loved a good prank. His family was his everything and he will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife, Anna Walsh; children, Jennifer (Christian) Barr, Nicole (Robert) Blum, and Michael (Susan) Walsh; grandchildren, Nathan, Tyler, Colin, Julia, and Colton; father, William Walsh; stepsons, Larry (Niki) Myers, and Joseph Myers; and his step-grandchildren, Eva, Ellie, Charlotte, and Max. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Walsh. A funeral mass in honor of Thomas’ life will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060 (Please meet at the church.) A burial service with Police and Military honors will be held following the funeral mass on Wednesday at Mentor Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Lake County Association of Police Chiefs, 9301 Chillicothe Rd., Kirtland, OH 44094.
