July 3, 1932 - December 11, 2020
William L. Radigan CLU ChFC, age 88, a longtime Mentor resident, passed away December 11, 2020, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. He was born July 3, 1932, in Cleveland. William was a self-made man. He joined the military at age 14 (one of his favorite stories). After his honorable discharge from the Airforce, he went on to work for the railroad. He then began what would become his life’s career, working in the life insurance field. William earned his CLU and ChFC, coveted designations in the industry. These achievements allowed him to advance with INA Life (Cigna) to the role of Director of Agencies. William was an energetic man who was always the life of the party with a funny story to tell and a good wit. His favorite summer pastime was boating, especially on Merlynn, on Lake Erie with family and friends, and docking at Mentor Lagoons Marina for 30 years. He had many interests including making award-winning wine, homemade bread and rolls, and processing maple sap into syrup to distribute to friends and family. He had been a Browns’ season ticket holder for many years at the old Municipal Stadium and enjoyed traveling with his family. He especially enjoyed the annual trips to Maine, Cedar Point, and Kelley’s Island. William was proud of his Irish heritage and was able to visit Ireland with his wife, Carol, in the early 1980s to “walk the old sod.” He truly loved his family and friends and also being raised in the Catholic faith. William was a devoted husband of 50 years and a good provider for his family. Surviving him is his wife, Carol (Davis); daughters, Rebecca (Leo) Rizzuti, and Roxanne (Justin) Kozlovich; granddaughters, Evelyn, Corinne, Guen, Morgan; and his grandson, Anthony. He is also survived by Ava, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Preceding him in death are his parents John and Hazel (Chandler) Radigan; and his brothers Robert and John Radigan. A funeral mass honoring William’s life will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2020, at St. Bede the Venerable Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, OH 44060 (Please meet at the church).
