Jeffrey P. de la Rosa, 52, died January 31st, 2013 at his Los Angeles home. Jeff was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 7, 1960 to Ildefonso (Roger) de la Rosa MD and Rosemary (nee Rocco) de la Rosa.
He attended Lake Catholic High School in Mentor, Ohio and graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts with a bachelor’s degree in film and television.He had a successful career as a gaffer/lighting technician in the film industry working on movies such as Independence Day, Runaway Bride, Tears of the Sun, and Hidalgo and television programs such as Twin Peaks, Judging Amy, and Brothers and Sisters. He was a passionate advocate for dogs and helped rescue many. Stu, Cowboy, Little Girl, Cookie and Maive were among his most beloved companions.
He travelled the world, and was active in the North American Motoring Mini Cooper Community. He created motorswag.com dedicated to all things Mini and inspired the community to put their energy into charitable causes through his brainchild, Minis on Parade.
He is survived by his siblings, Regina De la Rosa of Fishers, IN; Ramona de la Rosa of Lansdale, Pa, his stepmother Theresa de la Rosa of Berea Ohio, his half siblings Rick de la Rosa of Cleveland, Ohio, Jennifer Ciepiel of Firestone, Colorado, Roger de la Rosa of Teaneck, New Jersey, Elisa de la Rosa of Charlotte, North Carolina and his 10 nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private service and interment at Calvary Cemetery, Cleveland, OH. Memorial donations may be sent to Much Love Animal Rescue at muchlove.org. Online obituary at www.brunners.com.
