Anthony V. "Nino" Fina, age 63, of Mentor, passed away Sunday, Feb. 5,
2012, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Township.
He was born Aug. 5, 1948, in Cleveland.
Nino was the owner of Nino's Pizzeria in Mentor. For over 20 years, he
was a member of the Northern Ohio Umpires Association and he also worked
at Aable Rents.
He was a 1966 graduate of Chardon High School and a 1970 graduate of
Ohio University, home of the Bobcats. He especially loved cheering for
the Browns and Indians. Trips to Hawaii, Arizona and all over the
country were truly a special part of his life. Nino was such a great
friend to many and he will be deeply missed by his gang and his eight
dogs or better known as "his kids."
Survivors are his loving companion, Maureen Osborne of Mentor; sisters,
Peggy (Regan) Smith of Chardon, Patti Rentschler of Chardon and Chris
(Robert) Meek of Alabama; and many loving nieces, nephews, family and
friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Gloria Fina; and his
uncle, Virgil Forment.
A celebration of life will be held 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Brunner
Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave.,
Mentor.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the
funeral home. The family will continue to celebrate Nino's life from 9
to 11 p.m. with food and Tiki beverages in the reception center located
on property at the funeral home. (The family requests that friends who
attend the services wear their favorite Hawaiian outfit in memory of
Nino.)
