George
Hill, 84, of Mentor and formerly of Strongsville, died Monday, Feb. 15,
2010, at Salida Woods Assisted Living in Mentor-on-the-Lake, after fighting
a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 10, 1925, in
Cleveland.
He served in the U.S. Navy before being honorably discharged.
Mr. Hill sold real estate for R.A. Gall Reality in Parma and then became a
successful commercial loan officer at Cleveland Federal Savings and Loan.
George had a zest for life and everyone he met became his friend. He loved
to golf and enjoyed relaxing on his boat. But most importantly, he enjoyed
spending time with his son, Rick, and drinking a hot cup of black coffee!
The family would like to express their personal thanks to the staff at
Westport Independent Living, Salida Woods Assisted Living, Cleveland Clinic
Oncology department and Hospice of the Western Reserve for all their care
and dedication during George's battle with cancer.
Survivors are his son, Rick (Peggy) Hill of Concord Township; grandson, Alex
Hill; and niece, Diane (Ed) Bell of Concord Township.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vera; daughter, Barbara Smith; and his
parents, George and Mary.
Funeral services will be 8:30 p.m. Thursday February 18, 2010 at Brunner
Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor 44060, where
family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until time of services.
