Pete Washington Pittsenberger Sr., age 80, of Mentor-on-the-
Lake, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, surrounded by his family, at his
residence after a lengthy illness. Born Aug. 20, 1929, in Leivasy,
W.Va., Mr. Pittsenberger moved to Mentor in 1959 from West Virginia.
He received a Purple Heart while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean
War. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family. Most of all,
he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He retired after being a truck driver for over 27 years for Mahoning
Leasing/Leaseway Transportation in Eastlake.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Katie (Mary Kathryn Rice); daughter,
Sandra (Kevin) Bradshaw of Kirtland; sons, Pete W. (Stacey) Pittsenberger
Jr. of Euclid and David S. (Bernadette) Pittsenberger of South Euclid;
grandchildren, Malia and Gabriel Pittsenberger and William and Katherine
Bradshaw; brother, Bud (Geraldine) Pittsenberger of Mentor; and many nieces
and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pascal S. and Grace (Lambert)
Pittsenbarger; sisters, Marie Sims and Sue Ann Pittsenberger; brothers,
Jack, Bill, Bob and Junior Pittsenberger; and grandson, Eugene Pascal
Pittsenberger.
Memorial service will be 8:30 p.m. Tuesday February 16, 2010 at Brunner
Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. The
officiant will be the Rev. James Angle of Mentor Country Baptist Church.
Family will receive friends 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Pete's memory to Hospice of
the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185th St., Cleveland, OH 44119, or to a charity
of your choice. |
