Mary
(McMahon) Rhyner, age 78, of Willoughby for the past two years, formerly of
Grafton, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Fairmount Health Center in
Willoughby. She was born Aug. 28, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wis.
A homemaker, Mrs. Rhyner also taught the 1st grade in the Milwaukee School
System.
She received her bachelor of science degree in education from Mount Mary
College in Milwaukee, Wis. She volunteered extensively at Catholic churches
in Lorain County for the hot meals program. She was a member of St. Mary of
the Assumption Church in Mentor. She loved to knit, bake and spoil the
grandchildren.
Survivors are her husband of 50 years, Richard "Dick" Rhyner; sons, Michael
Rhyner of Mentor and Patrick (Ana) Rhyner of Quakerstown, Pa.; daughters,
Mary Ellen (Mike) DeSantis of Mentor and Carol Rhyner of Mentor;
grandchildren, Jessica, Steven, Megan and Rachel Rhyner, and Michaela,
Marcus and Martin DeSantis; sister, Frances (Patrick) Lavin of Elm Grove,
Wis.; brother, Harry McMahon of West Bend, Wis.; sister-in- law, Maureen
McMahon of Elm Grove, Wis.; brothers-in-law, Fr. Bob Rhyner of Green Bay,
Wis., Jack (Nancy) Rhyner of Green Bay, Dan Beaudoin of West Bend, Wis. and
Doug Hininger of Los Angeles, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bernice McMahon;
sisters, Lucy Stromberg, Bernice Beaudoin, Kathleen Hininger and Roberta
McMahon; brothers, Art and Patrick McMahon; and brother-in-law, Roger
(Grace) Rhyner.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday March 2, 2010 at St. Mary of the
Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brunner Funeral
Home & Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor 44060. Interment will be
at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
