Carol A. "Deannie" Robinson

Carol A. Robinson, age 52, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2016 surrounded by her family and best friend. Until she turned 18, Carol answered to her nickname “Deannie”…some family members still call her by that name. Carol was born in Willoughby and lived her early years in Mentor. In 1973, her family moved to Cleveland Heights and she graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 1982. After high school, she attended Sawyer College of Business receiving a degree in Business. Carol then moved west, and for most of her adult life she lived in Westlake. Carol had a very strong work ethic and loved her job and co-workers at the Westfield Group (an insurance and banking group of businesses) where she was employed as a Senior Investment Operations Specialist. On her own, she obtained her first job at the age of 14, washing dishes for a local restaurant. She never stopped working after that. Carol was devoted to her family and friends. Her motto in life was to live, love and laugh. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile that would light up a room and her zesty, out-going personality, as well as her extremely generous, kind heart that was always thinking of others. She was compassionate, generous, loyal, fun-loving, charming, witty and a beautiful person both inside and out. She was one of a kind. Carol was very fashionable. She adored shopping and had the most amazing wardrobe with shoes and accessories (bling was her thing) to match every outfit. She also had a flair for decorating and enjoyed purchasing items for her home. She relished gardening and was very proud of the beautiful flower beds she created around her home. From a very young age, Carol was very athletic and enjoyed working out, bicycling, playing golf and participating in other sports. She was competitive and strived to be the best she could in any activity she participated in. In 2005, after taking her first horseback riding lesson, Carol purchased the LOVE of her life – her horse “Payko”. He was such a joy in her life and she could never get enough of him and spent endless, peaceful hours grooming, riding and spoiling him. Carol was a life-long, avid animal lover and also leaves behind her three precious cats, Clyde, Harley and Lilac. Carol was the beloved daughter of Diane Dirks and step-father, Bob. She is also survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Dan Kilday, her step-siblings, William (Khim) Dirks, Steve (Laine) Dirks and Sarah Jones, her best friend, Scott Ashburn, her grandfather, Albert Brockway, aunts, cousins and other extended family members. Carol was preceded in death by her father, Charles Robinson, grandparents, Sam and Anna Robinson, and grandmother, Eleanor Brockway, an aunt, uncle and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, August 8, 2016, beginning at 11:00 AM at the Mentor Harbor Yachting Club, 5330 Coronada Drive, Mentor, Ohio. Following Carol’s Celebration, the family will host a reception at Mentor Harbor. In memory of Carol, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G.
