Charles P. "Chuck" McMillan Sr.

Charles P. “Chuck” McMillan Sr., age 83, of Painesville, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at UH Cleveland Medical Center, Cleveland, OH. He was born September 2, 1937, in Cleveland, OH. A 1956 graduate of Mayfield High School, Chuck entered the U.S. Army at age 19. He served 3 years, spending most of those years in West Germany with the 964th Army Engineers unit. A former lift operator and warehouse manager, he was employed for 21 years at Towmotor/Caterpillar’s East Cleveland and Mentor plants. After Caterpillar’s closure, he worked his remaining years before retirement as the operations manager at the Euclid facility for Detrex Chemical Corporation. Chuck loved to gamble, play cards and make regular trips to Vegas. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking, especially pies. A history buff, Chuck enjoyed watching TV shows connected to history and taught himself about finances and investing to support his family. A dedicated family man, he was a devoted caregiver to his wife and adult son, Nicholas. Survivors include his children: Anna Marie (Phil) Almas, Charles “Pete” (Beth) McMillan Jr., Nicholas, and twins Richard and Ronald McMillan; grandchildren, Philip (Brittany) Almas Jr., Anthony (Kristal) Almas, Elissa Almas, Ryan Almas, Matthew (Annalyse) McMillan, Victoria (William) Turosky, Jonathan McMillan, and Anthony Sansotta; great-grandchildren, Ki, Joell, Martez, Anthony Jr., Zayden, Ava, Aria, Easton and soon to be born Ella; sister-in-law Lynne (Joe) Mandebach, brothers-in-law Ronald (Rosemary) D’Angelo and John (Lisa) D’Angelo; and beloved dog, Maggie. Preceding Chuck in death are his wife, Donna (D’Angelo) McMillan, parents, Bernard and Rose (Amoroso) McMillan; sister-in-law MaryJo Catania; and brother-in-law Charlie Catania. The family will receive friends 6-8 pm, Friday, January 29, 2021, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged during all publicly attended events. Inurnment will take place at 11 am, Saturday, January 30, 2021, at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH.
