Conrad Richard Upholz

Conrad Richard Upholz age 96, was born March 12, 1925 and passed away Monday, September 27, 2021, surrounded by his loving children. He lived a vibrant, full life as a resident of Mayfield Heights, St. Augustine, Florida and Fairview Park, Ohio. Conrad was a US Army Corporal and Bugler, WWII Veteran and a retired Draftsman and Manager from W.S. Tyler Company (Elevator Division) for 43 years, in Cleveland, Ohio. In Conrad’s younger years he was a fun-loving, silly man who enjoyed his family, fishing, bowling, playing the trumpet with his Big Band group, The Playboys, and weekly pinochle card games. In Conrad’s retired years, he enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren at family dinners and get-togethers, playing cards, Rummikub, going to Air Shows, playing the slots at the casino, and Skyping with his brother nightly in German. His family will miss his quick wit, ocean blue eyes, old-fashioned charm, humor and his ability to tell it like it is. “Bis wir uns wieder treffen, Wir lieben dich” “Until We Meet Again, We Love You” Survivors include his brother: John (Jeanette) Upholz; children: Charlotte L. (Martin) Kelley, Michael R. (Nancy) Upholz, Conrad A. (Jean) Upholz, Maria A. (Steven) Straussner, Salvatore J. “Sal” Upholz and Christina M. (Douglas) Corwin; grandchildren: Kim (Kurt) Bell, Colleen (Ben) Jewell, Michael (Nancy) Upholz, Kristen (Anthony) Ugrinic, Matthew (Mandy) Upholz, Brian (Amy) Upholz, Jonathan (Brittany) Upholz, Alexandra, Austin and Christian Straussner, Rachel (Ed) Finnerty and Samantha Upholz, Noah and Nicholas Corwin; great-grandchildren: Shawn, Eric, Olivia, Allison, Kailey, Michael, Natalie, Isabella, Anthony, Christopher, Asher, River, Emilia and Teegan. Conrad is preceded in death by his wives: Mary Upholz, Margaret Upholz and Marianne Upholz; parents: Conrad and Theresa Upholz; siblings: Theresa and Fred Upholz. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 4:00 pm Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, Ohio, 44060. A funeral mass will be at 10:00 am Monday, October 4, 2021 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, Ohio, 44060. Please meet at the church.
