Harold Lavallee "Cactus"

Harold Lavallee “Cactus”, age 95, of Mentor, passed away February 7, 2023 in Sarasota, FL. while visiting friends. He was born March 29, 1927 in Glendale, RI to the late Hermanigel and Amilda Lavallee. Dad served in the 78th Infantry Division of the US Army, and joined at 18 years old, in Berlin, Germany 1945. He was married for over thirty years to Phyllis A. Lavallee, who we sadly lost at age 58. Dad retired from Pratt & Whitney, he was a quality engineer in aircraft manufacturing. Dad was an avid golfer, pool player and loved to fish on Spring Lake. In his retirement, he liked to spend time in Florida and he played harmonica at the senior center in Mentor. He also made golf clubs, bows and brought true meaning to living life to its fullest. Harold is survived by his children, David H. Lavallee and Susan Brady; grandchildren, Melissa M. Lavallee, Michael Brady and Ryan Brady; great-grandchildren, Bennett Michael Brady and Arianna Larbig. Preceding Harold in death are his wife, Phyllis Ann Lavallee and his siblings, Roland, Raymond, Freddie and Norma. Dad was a loving father, and husband and he will be missed by all who knew him. It was an honor to have him in our lives. The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., on Friday, March 10, 2023 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave, Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service will begin at 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023 at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 9:30am., Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Mentor Cemetery. Please meet in section 25. There will also be two masses said in Harold's memory, for out of town family, on Friday, March 31, 2023, beginning at 12noon at St. Mary's Church, 100 Central Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901 and Sunday, June 11, 2023, beginning at 9:15 at a.m., at St. Patrick's Church, 45 Harrisville Main St, Harrisville, RI 02830 The family requests no flowers and in lieu of please make memorial contributions in Harold’s honor to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44106 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Lake Humane Society, 7564-E Tyler Boulevard, Mentor, Ohio 44060.
