Joyce G. Dirrman

Joyce G. Dirrman, 84, resident of Breckenridge Village in Willoughby formerly of Mentor, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Lake West Medical Center, Willoughby. Joyce graduated from Andrews School with a major in Business Administration in 1955 and began her career as a Secretary for the Case Western Math Department in 1956; shortly thereafter, she became an Executive Secretary to the Claims Director of Progressive Insurance Co. until 1962. She married Richard Carl Dirrman in 1956 and celebrated 54 years of marriage before his passing in 2010. Her service to the City of Willowick began in 1978 as a Secretary to City Council and in 1980, accepted full-time employment as an Executive Administrative Secretary for nearly 28 years serving seven Finance Directors in addition as Liason to four City Law Directors. She received the G. Fred Martin Award for Public Service in 1995 and retired in 2006. Her unending love for her family, her infectious smile and her generosity/willingness to care for others remained her way of life until her passing. Survivors are her beloved children: Debra Ann Semik and Richard (Jennifer) Dirrman Jr; Sister, Kathryn (Michael) Gambatese; Brother, Dr. Perry William Robinson; Sister-in-Law, Grace Somerville; Grandchildren, Randy (Seema) Ice, Richard (Kenny) Ice, Renee (Isaiah) Fitzgerald-Palacio, Jared Semik, Breana Dirrman and Caylee Dirrman; great-grand-children: Byron Floyd and Harper Ice, Maya and Jay Ice, Araela, Denali and Abriel Fitzgerald-Palacio; Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She also leaves her dear and closest of friends, Mardy and Lloyd Powell of FL; Susan and Lewis Andrews of FL; Jan Janecek of Chardon, OH; and Jan Norris of Las Vegas, NV; her personal aid of 9 years, Janet McMullen. Preceding Joyce in death are her husband: Richard C. Dirrman Sr; parents, Edward L. and Kathryn R. (Stoneback) Robinson; Brother and Sister-in-law, Edward G. and Pauline Robinson and beloved son-in-law, Michael A. Semik. A Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm, Sunday July 11, 2021 at the First Christian Church, 4249 River St, Willoughby, OH 44094 .
