Marie Paganini

Marie Paganini of Concord Twp., passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. She was born June 1, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York. Marie met her husband, John, at Sewanhaka High School in Long Island. Their extraordinary marriage of 68 years started in1953 with a honeymoon that took them to Montreal, New York City, the Poconos and Niagara Falls. She was blessed with 4 wonderful children, and Marie was always engaged in each stage of their lives. Marie’s passion for cooking led her to author and publish 2000 copies of the Viva Italia cookbook, each recipe including a personal story. Marie also taught cooking and received an award for “A Very Special Rum Cake”. Marie’s lively sense of style and fashion was always present. She specialized in cosmetics sales at local department stores. Ever the entrepreneur, she founded a wedding dress rental company. Marie spent many hours volunteering for charitable causes at St. Gabriel’s and other organizations. She cooked for the priests at St. Gabriel Church and also helped to obtain pledges from parishioners to build a new church. Marie was an avid golfer and played in many leagues. Her husband John was also an avid golfer and they played together frequently. Marie also loved to garden. Her love of travel took her to many wonderful places, especially Italy, where she enjoyed the culture and visited relatives. Marie was a devoted and loving wife, caring mother, and a good woman that will be deeply missed. Survivors include her husband, John David Paganini; children, John J. Paganini, Carol (Steve) Paganini – Tebo, Raymond (Zera) Paganini and Donna (Timothy Pool) Paganini; grandchildren, Sarah (Garrett) Richards, John Paul Tebo, Laura Paganini, Rachel Pool, Zachary Paganini, Colin Harrison and Nicole Pool; great grandchild, Ashton Richards and her sisters, Carol Upton and Pat (Richard) Scherrer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Volpe; and her sister, Dorothy Breslin. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass in honor of Marie’s life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp., OH 44060 (Please meet at the church.)
