Marvin F. Silver

Marvin F. Silver, 88, of Painesville Twp., died September 1, 2022 at the University Hospitals TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Twp. He was born July 15, 1934 in Cleveland. Marvin was a builder and developer in the local area throughout his life. Some accomplishments include the Colonial Plaza and Mentor Park Apartments in Mentor and the Concord Plaza in Concord Twp. His much loved senior hobby was taking care of and socializing with his tenants. Marvin enjoyed casinos, family trips and family traditions. Halloween on his front porch, with the “Witch of Coventry”, was a yearly event that many of his neighborhood families won’t soon forget. He loved everyone gathering for the holidays, especially Christmas, which was made even more special with the opening of the “Santa Bags”! But the thing that Marv most enjoyed was telling a joke to anyone and everyone. He was the joke master and no one delivered a joke better than he. His friends and family were impressed that he could remember so many. He will also be remembered for his 16 years as little league coach of the Phillies. Survivors include his children, Cindy (Pat) DiCarlo, Pam (Bill) Takacs, Gary Silver, and Randy (Noriko) Silver; grandchildren, Melissa (Jesse Scheider) DiCarlo, Lisa Mullowney; Diane (Scott) Runyon, Jared (Nichole) Takacs, Shiori, Jack (Madison), Mark, and Kyle Silver; great grandchildren, Connor and Gavin Mullowney; Maddox, Colette and Corinne Runyon, Jack Christian, and Owen Takacs; significant other, Chris Townley; sister, Carolyn Silver; brother, Dr. Richard Silver; and his beloved cats, Inky and Freckles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents, Jack and Rita Silver; granddaughter, Leah Takacs; and his beloved cat, Molly. The family will receive friends to celebrate Marvin’s life from 3-7 p.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. The family would like everyone attending to bring a favorite joke written down that can be placed in Marvin’s casket and buried with him. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2022 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland.
