Robert Hermetet

Robert Hermetet, 97, of Mentor-on-the-Lake, passed away July 25, 2022 at Ohman Family Living at Briar Hill, Middlefield. He was born October 11, 1924 in Clyde, Ohio to the late George and Mariam Hermetet. Robert loved Jesus and is now reunited with his Savior as well as his beloved wife, Millie; something he’s longed for and excitedly awaited since her passing. Robert was an avid fisherman, hosting countless boating adventures on Lake Erie & Salmon fishing in the Genesee River in New York with his family and closest friends. He and his beloved wife were lifelong fans of auto racing, having made several trips to Daytona. If you were in their home on a summer Sunday afternoon, you were likely watching Nascar with Robert and Millie! If you were to spend even a few moments with Robert, you’d learn more than you knew possible about gardening. His garden was annually the envy of everyone in the neighborhood! More than anything though, family was his greatest treasure. He often said the most meaningful years of his life were the last years with his wife as he cared for her as her health failed. His eyes would light up when talking about his family; he couldn’t wait to hear the latest update from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We will miss you, daddy and papa; thank you for the wonderful legacy you’ve left us all. Survivors include his daughter, Debbie (fiancé: Mark Gifford) Hermetet; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; son in law, Frank Krnach; daughter in law, Linda Hermetet and many other loving family members and friends. Preceding Robert in death are his wife, Ruth Mildred “Millie” Jeanette Hermetet; son, Robert “Bob” Hermetet; daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Krnach and brothers, Raymond and Larry Hermetet. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022 and from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 1, 2022 at the funeral home. Burial in Mentor Cemetery to follow.
