Alex Piercy

Alex Piercy, 26, a lifelong Mentor resident, died January 1, 2024 at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland after a yearlong courageous battle with Colorectal cancer. Alex fought the tough, hard fight with determination and came up short. He was born August 11, 1997 in Painesville. Alex was a Mentor High School graduate where he wrestled all through middle and high school. After graduation in 2016, Alex went on to Lakeland Community College and obtained his Associates of Arts degree. Thereafter, he went to Cleveland State University where he obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, then went on to work at the Lintern Corporation as a Supply Chain Administrator, where he did his internship his senior year of high school. Alex was so loving, caring, compassionate, and strong. He was a true inspiration and maintained a positive attitude even through the pain of his cancer. He had a sense of humor no one could compete with and his smile would light up a room when he walked in. His hobbies were golfing, snowboarding, volleyball, unicycling, and watching UFC with “The Boys”. Along with hiking with his dog “Jack”, hanging out with friends and family, especially his nieces and nephews, Alex also enjoyed traveling, taking spontaneous adventures, hanging by a bonfire, and listening to music. Spending time with his girlfriend and giving back to the community through foundation work with United Way were just a few of the many things Alex loved. Alex will forever be remembered for the determination, strength, courage, and dignity he displayed throughout his journey. Survivors include his significant other Anastasia Marchenko; siblings, Edward “Tom” Serger, Nicole (Anthony) Gammiere, and Shayla (Greg Sovine) Piercy; father, Chris Piercy; aunts and uncles, Robert (Christina) Serger, Anthony Serger, Ron (Victoria) Piercy, Gail Piercy, Wave (Keith) Herman, Dee Bates, and Debbie Yeater; nieces and nephews, Taylor, Danika, Gianna, Adreonna, Briella, Andi, Gabby, AJ, Jordan, and Suttyn; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Chrisann Piercy. The family will receive friends to celebrate Alex’s life from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A service to conclude the gathering will begin at 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be held in Lake View Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in care of Alex’s family so they can honor Alex’s wishes to start a foundation in his name to help those with FAP (Familial Adenomatous Polyposis) and Colorectal Cancer.
