Alexia Phyllis Byrd

Alexia Phyllis Byrd was introduced to the world by way of Akron, Ohio on November 28, 2000 to her proud parents, Samuel and Brina Byrd. She affectionately became known as Buca, a name given by her aunt. Waiting to welcome her to the family were her “all too excited” siblings. Alexia loved reading a good book, learning new things and even became fluent in Turkish. She graduated from Mentor High School in 2019. While in school she enjoyed participating in volleyball. After high school she earned her certificate in Phlebotomy and pursued a career in healthcare. Alexia loved people and loved caring for them. Her best patient was her dad. She waited on him hand and foot after his knee surgery and he loved every minute of it. It was her chance to spoil him in return for him spoiling her for her entire life. She was definitely a daddy’s girl. But make no mistake about she was a mama’s girl too. From youth, her mom taught her how to be a lady, how to cook, clean and dance all while wearing high heel shoes. She even taught Alexia how to sing. Alexia had such a beautiful singing voice. She loved singing with her mom and together they made a beautiful harmony. Some of their fondest memories included singing and dancing while cooking or cleaning the house. Alexia would unwind after a long day by relaxing with a coloring book or hanging out with her friends. She was a true friend. Alexia loved her friends dearly and they loved her to the moon and back. Her friends describe her as an excellent organizer, humble, helpful, strong-willed, and giving. They would take coffee breaks to Starbucks, enjoy meals together and make hilarious TikTok videos. Alexia came from a legacy of worshippers of Jehovah God. Jehovah knew her when she was an embryo in her mother’s womb, and He watched her as she grew in her protective care. Jehovah never took his watchful eye off Alexia, even when she may not have stayed focused on Him. How do we know? Because Jehovah promised us at John 5:28-29 that “all those in the memorial tombs or grave will hear Jesus' voice and come out…” Alexia is not forgotten by Him nor those who have adopted her into their heart. Cry a little, but not too much. This is not the end of Alexia’s story. This is merely a brief pause! The best is yet to be written. We have so much left to do and we’ll have all the time in the world to do it! Until then, To Be Continued………. See you in Paradise! A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 10, 2023 at the funeral home.
