Anne M. Locke

Anne M. Locke, 86, a longtime resident of Mentor, passed away peacefully at her home on April 13, 2025, surrounded by her husband and family. She was born August 23, 1938, in Steubenville and was raised in Ashtabula, Ohio. Anne graduated from Ashtabula High School, where she served as Secretary of her class, was active in school plays, and was a proud member of the National Honor Society. It was there she met her husband, Robert Locke—her high school sweetheart. Anne and Bob attended their high school prom together, marking the beginning of a lifelong love story. They shared nearly 68 wonderful years of marriage. She once said, “everyone needs a Bob in their life,” a simple reflection of the deep love and partnership they shared. Anne worked as a dental hygienist before dedicating herself full-time to raising her family, which was the true center of her life. When her children were older, she returned to the workforce and found great fulfillment in her job at the Lakeland Community College bookstore, where she worked for many years and eventually retired. She truly enjoyed her time at Lakeland and the connections she made there. Anne was always there for her family. In a quiet, unassuming way, she was a powerful presence in their lives—steady and supportive through both the smallest and biggest moments. Though she never sought the spotlight, her love and loyalty spoke volumes, shaping and anchoring generations of those she loved. She was an avid reader and loved baking Christmas cookies with her children and grandchildren, a tradition she cherished especially when shared with her dear late friend, Joann Giovannelli. Together, Anne and Joann created the Center Street Cookbook, a legacy of friendship, laughter, and favorite family recipes that brought joy to many. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Anne’s greatest joy came from time spent with her loved ones. She and Bob rarely missed a school or sporting event, always proudly cheering from the sidelines. Anne was a loyal Cleveland sports fan, rarely missing a Browns, Guardians or Cavaliers game, and she especially enjoyed friendly competition in her family’s sports pools. Survivors include her husband of nearly 68 years, Robert Locke; children, Jeff (Antoinette) Locke, Mike Locke, Kim (Timothy) Cosgrove, and Lorie Rochford; grandchildren, Megan Locke, Michaela Cosgrove, Ian Cosgrove (fiancée Amber Simmons), Dawson Cosgrove, Kennedy Rochford, Olivia Rochford, and Meredith Rochford; great-granddaughter, Ellie Steck; and her sister, Lorraine Kuriger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Olive Kuriger. In the end, Anne spoke of the importance of memories—and how comforted she was by the many beautiful ones she held close. Her family takes solace in knowing that her memory will continue to shine through the lives she touched with such quiet strength and unwavering love. The family will receive friends to honor Anne’s life from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060.
