Burvel Scott McNealy

Burvel Scott McNealy, age 78 of Mentor, passed away on January 21, 2023 at the UH Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby. He was born March 1, 1944 in El Centro, CA to the late Burvel and Norma (nee Prock) McNealy. Scott graduated from Colton Union High School, Colton, California, in 1961. He joined the US Navy in 1962 and enjoyed a career that lasted 24 years. Scott served on the USS Coral Sea and served in the Vietnam War. As an aircraft technician/mechanic, he was known for his leadership skills and exceptional work ethic, retiring as a CPOS – Senior Chief Petty Officer, Senior Chief Aviation Machinists Mate. After leaving the Navy he worked another 20 years for Art Scholl Aviation in Rialto, California. This opportunity brought him a best friend, like a brother, Arlyn Cook, a superb aircraft mechanic who worked alongside him during those 20 years. He retired there when he felt he could no longer guarantee perfection in his work and with airplanes you exceed expectations. He was known for his love of aviation, fishing, and hobbies which are too many to list. He could make or fix anything. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 15 years, Candace McNealy, and her children Karen Lawrence, Donna Lawrence, and David (Charlene) Lawrence. He was a wonderful PaPa to grandchildren Jake and Mitchell Lawrence and Matthew and Anna Hunger. Surviving sister Delores VanMeter, nieces Lynette Cummins and Lynde Edwards. Nephews Bret VanMeter and Chris Nodurfth in addition to the children of sisters Dottie Griffin and Joanna Roe. Many great and great great nieces and nephews as well will be hearing wonderful Uncle Scotty stories. He was preceded in death by his first wife Nao McNealy, parents Burvel and Norma McNealy, sisters Dottie Jean Griffin, Delyn Rae Nodurfth and Joanna Roe. A private committal service will be held at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH.
