Carl L. Cummins Sr.

Carl L. Cummins Sr., 93, of Madison, formerly of Mentor, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026, at his grandson’s home surrounded by his loving family. He was born October 22, 1932, in Indiana, PA. Mr. Cummins was a retired Machinist from the former T.R.W. Inc., where he worked from 1985 until his retirement in 1995. Prior to that he worked at the former Republic Steel, G.E. and was a Michigan State Trooper. Carl was a US Army Veteran. He belonged to George E. Hayward VFW Post 9295, Mentor and American Legion Post #214, Palmer-Roberts, Willoughby. Carl lived a life marked by hard work, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. He carried a strong sense of duty, integrity, and service throughout his life. Whether family, friends, or neighbors needed a hand, Carl was always ready to give his time, support, and encouragement. An avid outdoorsman, Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He also loved painting and expressing his creativity through art. Carl always had a story to tell and treasured time spent with his family. He especially loved watching his great-grandchildren grow and experience life's adventures. Survivors include his son, Randy (Shelly) Cummins and daughter-in-law, Rose (McCauley) Cummins; grandchildren, Carl L. (Kelly) Cummins III and Jeromey W. (Nicole) Cummins; great- grandchildren, Hunter, Harper, Hannah, Nicholas and Joseph Cummins; sister, Louise Bosija; and many nieces & nephews. He is also survived by his friends and extended family whose love, friendship, and devoted care was a blessing in his later years, especially Chris and Toby Hanahan and his daily caregiver, Carletta. Preceding Carl in death are his wife, Mary B. Cummins; son, Carl L. Cummins Jr., parents, George and Annie Cummins and siblings, Albert (Eunice) Cummins and Don (Susan) Cummins and brother-in-law, Joe Bosija. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland, OH.
