Carl Patrick DeRosa, born in Cleveland on January 8, 1930, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026. He lived a long and full life marked by devotion to his family, his faith, and the many friendships he cultivated along the way. Carl was the youngest of twelve children born to Frank and Daviana DeRosa. Growing up in a large family shaped his lifelong appreciation for togetherness, laughter, and the importance of caring for others. Those who knew Carl remember him as a man with a gentle spirit and a kind heart, someone who made people feel welcome and valued. He also possessed a keen and easy sense of humor, often brightening a room with a well-timed joke or a warm smile. Carl was an inspiration to his family and friends. At 58 years old he accomplished something incredible-completing a full marathon. In 1950, Carl married the love of his life, Jean DiPaolo. Their marriage of 53 years was built on love, loyalty, and shared adventures. Together they raised five children—Carl (Marlene), Bonnie (Paul), Linda, Vicki (Larry), and Christopher (Rita)—and created a home centered on family, laughter, and enduring traditions. Carl was a proud entrepreneur and co-founder of Ultra Labs, Inc, established in 1966 in Cleveland. Through determination, integrity, and hard work, he helped build a successful business while providing for his growing family. Even with the demands of work, Carl always made time for what mattered most—his family and his community. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren—Sara (David), Christopher (Amanda), Patrick (Haley), Nicholas (Jenna), Katie (Peter), Michael, and Becky (Jim)—and a loving great-grandfather to Riley, Cooper, Braxton, Brinley, Tatum, Jack, and Charlotte. Carl delighted in watching his family grow and took great joy in every generation that followed him. Some of Carl’s happiest moments were spent creating memories with those he loved. He cherished traveling with Jean, making homemade wine with his family, and hosting the DeRosa family’s unforgettable Thanksgiving celebrations. The annual winemaking tradition became one of his favorite pastimes—bringing family members together year after year to work side by side, share stories, and enjoy the fruits of their labor. Those gatherings, like their Thanksgiving celebrations, were filled with laughter, warmth, and the unmistakable spirit of family that Carl treasured so deeply. Later in life, Carl and Jean retired to Prescott, Arizona, where they enjoyed their retirement years together. Deeply devoted to his faith, Carl served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, quietly living out his commitment to service, fellowship, and compassion. During the final two years of his life, Carl was a resident of Parker Place Gracious Living, where he became part of a welcoming community filled with friendship and support. He valued the companionship he found there, and his family is grateful for the warmth and connections that enriched his time in that community. Carl will be remembered for his kindness, humility, gentle spirit, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. His steady presence, warm humor, and ability to bring people together left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. More than anything, Carl believed that the greatest joy in life was family. The traditions he created, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely will live on through the generations who follow him. In the spirit of the values he held so dearly, his family remembers the simple truth that guided his life: “Tutto Inizia Con La Famiglia” — Everything begins with family. And through the family he loved so deeply, Carl’s legacy will continue for generations to come. A private service was held by the family.
