Darlene Armstrong

Darlene Armstrong, 67, of Mentor, passed away March 16, 2024 at the David Simpson Hospice House, Cleveland. She was born October 26, 1956 in Cleveland to the late Gerard and Bernice Beauchamp. Darlene married the love of her life, Reese, on June 4, 1988. They met at the Nupro Company (Swagelok) where she had worked for over 29 years before taking an early retirement in 2006. They grew up in the same neighborhood in Wickliffe, coincidentally, where fate brought them together to build this amazing life together. After several years of retirement, she decided to go back to work part-time, working at the RollHouse, where she developed some amazing friendships, and it kept her close to the lottery machines! Darlene’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was the matriarch of the family who loved, protected and supported her family unconditionally. She was so proud of all four of her children; Tina, Craig, Danielle and Reese. She always worried about them, wanted to protect them and was quick to want to fight anyone who hurt them, she made sure they always had the best life. She adored her grandchildren; Justin, Aubrey, Sophia and Addison. She enjoyed spoiling them and always looked forward to seeing and spending time with them. Darlene’s hobby was crafts, she was so talented and creative. She operated under the name, Crafty Zebra, attending many of the craft shows in the area where she made flower arrangements, soft sculptures and holiday themed decorations and ornaments. She loved our Harley rides together, going for ice cream and rides to the beach at sunset. She also loved gambling, primarily playing slot machines, she enjoyed trips to Las Vegas which is where we got engaged and honeymooned, as well as, her frequent visits to Thistledown. However, her favorite place in the world was Myrtle Beach which was our annual vacation spot, she loved the palm trees, walking the beach and collecting seashells. Her last wish is that this be her final resting place… We would like to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful Hospice nurses and aides who lovingly cared for her at home and at David Simpson Hospice House. They will forever have a special place in our hearts. Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Reese Armstrong; children, Tina (Chuck Reeves) Smith, Craig (Genevieve) Boldin, Danielle (Mark Fogle) Armstrong and Reese (Gabrielle) Armstrong; grandchildren, Justin Smith, Sophia Boldin and Aubrey and Addison Fogle; siblings, Denise (Jimmy) Amato, Deanna (Mark Crites) Beauchamp and Danny (Chris) Beauchamp and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, Ohio 44060. A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the funeral home.
