Edward "Ed" Michael Kuschel Sr.

Edward “Ed” Michael Kuschel Sr., age 73, passed away on May 30, 2025 at his residence. He was born on November 4, 1951 in Buffalo, NY. Ed was a devoted father, a loving husband, and a loyal friend to many. Whether he was telling jokes, showing off his Hello Dolly impression, or simply acting like one of his kids, he made every moment unforgettable. His legacy is one of integrity, resilience, and love. An avid outdoorsman, Ed found joy in hiking, fishing, and exploring the beauty of nature. He had many hobbies, but he was most passionate about golf. He was an active member of Kiwanis, involved with the Boy Scouts for over 50 years as both a member and leader, and contributed his time to Historic Kirtland. Ed served a two-year mission in Brazil and later a service mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He also served as a Bishop. Always ready to help, he showed kindness to everyone he met. His generosity, sweet spirit, work ethic, and deep love for his family and friends will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He graduated from Paradise Valley High School in Arizona and earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Professionally, he worked as a semiconductor manufacturing manager, in human resources at Motorola, and as a plant manager overseeing maintenance and safety at DuPont. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Denise; 6 children and 7 grandchildren – Amanda Kuschel (her children - Justin Kuschel & Audrey Behymer), Edward Kuschel Jr. (wife – Blair Kuschel, child – Emma Kuschel), Shaun Kuschel (wife – Erica Kuschel), Julieanna Ward (her children – Brianna “Ghost” Ward & Sebastian Ward), Erica Kuschel Leps (husband – Brian Leps, children – Benjamin Leps & Evander Leps), Kayla Kuschel Cooper (husband – Bryan Cooper); and 1 sister – Lynette. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Kuschel; mother, Edith Kuschel; sister, Patricia Hubert; and brother, Arthur Kuschel Jr. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8751 Kirtland Rd., Kirtland, OH 44094. A private interment will be in Kirtland North Cemetery.
