Edward F. Lowe

Edward F. Lowe, 91, of Mentor and Concord Twp., passed away January 23, 2018, at Mentor Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center in Mentor. He was born March 28, 1926, in Clinton, Massachusetts. Following graduation from high school, Edward joined the U.S. Navy and served as a Seabee in the Philippines during World War II from 1944 – 1946. After his service to his country, Edward graduated from Cleveland College of Western University in 1951 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. He began work at Euclid Road Machinery Co. in 1951 as an accountant trainee and spent 33 years in various management positions until he retired in 1984 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Planning. During his time at the company, Edward traveled and lived across the country and around the world. After his retirement, Edward was active as a treasurer with the Salvation Army – Mentor Unit, and as an accountant at Hope Ridge United Methodist Church where he was a longtime member. He enjoyed desserts after every meal, traveling the world with his wife, Gail, playing golf with his good buddy, Ted Ratcliffe, and spending loads of time with his family. Survivors are his wife, Gail L. (Johnson) Lowe; daughters, Linda (Greg) Welz, and Karen (Frank) Pirc; grandchildren, Jessica (Drew) Hudec, Samantha (Jeff) Schmidt, and Katherine Welz; great grandson, Andrew Francis Hudec, with an additional great grandchild from the Schmidts along the way; his brother, Richard Lowe; and many loving family members and church friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy; parents, Clifford and Marion; sisters, Barb Colville and Sally Lucas; and his brothers, William and Robert. The family will receive friends from 3-7 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2018, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A celebration of life in honor of Edward will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 27 at Hope Ridge United Methodist Church, 9870 Johnnycake Ridge Rd. Concord Twp., OH 44060.
