Elizabeth A. "Betty" Butara

Elizabeth A. “Betty” (English) Butara, age 92, of Mentor, passed away Monday, February 12, 2024 at Legacy of Mentor, Mentor, OH. She was born December 19, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. Butara was a retired cafeteria manager at the Tungsten Rd. General Electric plant. Betty enjoyed being involved with her friends at her residence for the past 4 ½ years. She enjoyed traveling on vacations with various children and their families. From the Outer Banks, Las Vegas, New York City, Niagara Falls; visiting her brother in Florida, and countless Flag football tournaments. An affectionate nickname came from her participation with Gibbs football team: Sideline Director. She loved live professional theater, live local theater and music of all types. Her love of Slovenian polkas was legendary, and she would have danced all night. She enjoyed counted cross stitch, and stitched many beautiful pieces that hang in all family homes for them to enjoy. Mom worked tirelessly documenting her family history in her scrapbooks. She leaves behind an intricate record of her life and her family, in written form and photos. Betty had an unshakable faith in the Lord throughout her life. She had a sweet and gentle disposition, and lived out the fruits of the Holy Spirit. They included Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control. Survivors include her children: Frances “Fran” (Dave) Dalpiaz, Robert “Bob” (Michelle) Butara, Kathy (Bill) Bayer, Raymond (Kelly) Butara, Susan (Robert) McKeown, Debbie (Bill) Larch and Rick (Anna) Butara, Jr; son in law: Charles R. Anderson Jr.; grandchildren: Lori (Mark) Myllykoski, Jim Dalpiaz, Pete (Katie) Dalpiaz, Tony (Christy) Butara, Gina Butara (significant other: Dave Popik), Maria Butara, Nick (Ciarra) Butara, Bobby Butara, Tom, Bill and John Bayer, Noelle (Josue) Valdez, Allyce (Danny) Schutt, Neil (Maggie) Butara, Joe (Melanie) Butara, Robert (Sarah) McKeown, Angela (Jason) Stanek, Ryan McKeown, Jeff Larch (significant other: Ricki Janis), Candace Robinson (significant other: C.J. Johnson), Chuck Robinson III (significant other: Jenny Orlando), and Carmen Robinson (significant other: Aaron Marker); 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Elizabeth in death are her husband: Joseph R. Butara; daughter: Margaret M. “Peggy” Robinson; parents: Michael Gilbert English and Mildred O’Reilly and siblings: Jean Raphael and James English, great grandsons, William and Henry Dalpiaz. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Mentor, OH 44060.
