Emma Marie McCabe

Emma Marie McCabe, age 91 of Mentor, died Sunday, May 20, 2018, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born at home on September 16, 1926, in Mentor, OH. Mrs. McCabe was a retired banker for National City Bank. Emma who was known to many as Marie was a proud graduate of Villa-Angela, School for Girls in Euclid, Ohio. She had multiple lifetime school friends. She worked for multiple banks over the years as the name changed from St. Clair Savings to Broadview Savings and lastly National City Bank. She was known as the really, helpful lady at the bank and her specialty was vulnerable seniors who often relied on her expertise. After retirement, she was all about her growing family, volunteering for St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Mentor in their bereavement and Eucharistic ministries. She loved all things Christmas and the Hallmark movie channel even during the heat of July. She was a die-hard Cleveland Indians fan. Survivors include her children: James J. (Toni) McCabe, William R. McCabe, Colleen (Ronald) Glasscock, Bro. Patrick McCabe, Eileen McCabe, 7 grandchildren: Jason (Kim) McCabe, Shane (Kimberly) McCabe, Amy McCormick, Tim (Emily) McCabe, Jeff (Katie) McCabe, Kelly McCabe, Kimmie (Ricky) Ford, 14 Great Grandchildren: Nick, Bianka, Brianna, Jadon, Kamyrn, Matthew, Keegan, Shayla, Maili, Bella, Caden & Madison, Each adopted in love, her extended family includes: Scott C. Hare, Sr. Patricia Raelene Peters, Conni Hinkle-Stefanchik (Paul) Preceding Emma Marie in death are her husband: James J. McCabe Jr, daughters: Denise M. & Mary Kathleen McCabe, parents: Joseph and Emma Smith, siblings: Dora Kirkland, Josephine Korenke, Betty Beltz, Robert & Joseph Smith. The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday, May 25, 2018, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 am Saturday, May 26, 2018, at St Anthony of Padua Church, 316 5th St, Fairport Harbor, OH 44077. Please meet at the church.
