Gertrude Louise “Trudy” (McShane) Robie, age 93 of Kirtland Hills, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 29, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA. Trudy was the 5th of 9 children, raised in Pittsburgh, PA. She graduated from Carlow College with a degree in music. As a talented soprano singer, she had the leading roles in many musical performances such as The Student Prince and Naughty Marietta. She continued her love of singing in the church choirs for many years. Trudy was the devoted wife of Richard and a loving nurturing mother to her 7 children. Her 13 grandchildren brought great joy into her life. Her family, including her extended family, always came first. Her guiding principle was her Catholic faith. Trudy was an avid reader, enjoyed nature, traveled extensively in the United States and abroad and loved word puzzles. She was blessed with exquisite taste and perceptive wisdom. We treasured her dry wit and humor. All who had the good fortune of knowing her will miss her greatly. A special thanks to Hospice of the Western Reserve, Mentor Ridge and Trudy's in-home caregivers. Living family members include her husband of 63 years, Dr. Richard R. Robie. Children: Mary (Wayne) Duignan, Veronica (Brian Stasiewicz) Robie, Killian (Lynne) Robie, Regina (Steve) Gallo, Patrick (Debi) Robie and Todd Robie. Grandchildren: Evan and Claire Duignan; Matthew Stasiewicz; Killian Martin, Ryan and Jeffrey Robie; Nicholas, Grace, Jillian and Stephen Gallo; Peter, McKenna and Megan Robie. Also, Trudy's brother: Mark (Rosemarie) McShane. Preceding Trudy in death are her son John F. "Jack" Robie. Parents: Francis and Gertrude McShane. Siblings: Geraldine (Hugh) Devane, Sister Doris McShane FMM, Frank (Ann) McShane, Patrick (Maureen) McShane, Marilyn McShane, Christina (Gilbert) Friday and David McShane. The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 11:00 am Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, November 18, 2023 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor Ave, Mentor, OH 44060.
