Gloria Jean Takacs

Gloria Jean Takacs, 71, of Mentor passed away peacefully June 6, 2018 at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland after a sustained battle with ALS. She was born to the late Eugene Louis Takacs and Gloria Antoinette (nee Coletto) Takacs, August 3rd 1946, at McDonald House in Cleveland. After graduating from Eastlake-North High School, she attended Kent State University to complete her Bachelors in hearing impairment and Masters in early childhood education. She taught in multiple Cleveland Public Schools over her 30 tenure. Gloria truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She loved to knit, crochet and sew. Spending time with family and friends was when she was the happiest. She spent her life trying to reach others in a deep and positive way. She believed in helping others before herself. If she could make even the slightest difference in someone’s life for the better, it was worth the effort. Gloria is survived by her sons: Tony Takacs and Tim Takacs; sisters, Carol Mondichak and Jeanette Vargo; niece, Victoria (David) Potts; great nephews, David and Gavin Potts; aunts, Joanna Collier and Malvina Schwartfigure; and her uncle, Anthony “Tony” Coletto. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Louis J. and Ellen (Hartman) Takacs; maternal grandfather Anthony Coletto Sr.; aunts, Eleanor Ennes and Marion (George) Measor; and uncles, Louis F. and Edward Takacs. Gloria’s family is deeply grateful to family and friends who have shared their time and prayers, to each person who made her time on this earth a memorable one. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal.” The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at St. Noel Church, 35200 Chardon Rd., Willoughby Hills, OH 44094 (Please meet at the church.)
