Helen Olah Broady

Helen Olah Broady, age 98 of Painesville Twp., passed away July 24, 2023, at the UH TriPoint Medical Center in Concord Twp., surrounded by her daughters and many loving family members. She was born October 28, 1924, in Cleveland, OH. Helen was a meticulous homemaker and also worked various jobs over the years, including banking at the Federal Reserve, Tremco, retail at Franklin Simon and Malley’s Chocolates, and medical billing for Anesthesia Associates. She had a passion for all things Hawaiian and was able to vacation there, which had been a lifelong dream. She enjoyed reading. Meteorology and geography were of great interest to her, and she loved studying maps and atlases. She had an insatiable curiosity for learning new things and keeping up with current events. One of her daily goals was to complete the newspaper crossword puzzle. She never missed her favorite soap operas and also loved all kinds of music with a “good beat”. The most important part of her life was her family, in which she took a keen interest and had a great deal of pride. The last four years of her life were spent at Danbury Senior Living in Mentor, where she was the first resident when they opened in 2019. There, she enjoyed meeting new friends and developed special relationships with many nurses and caregivers. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (Robert) Kovach, Susan (Thomas) Prosek, Laurie (William) Hall; step-daughter, Beth (Dave) Skorupski; grandchildren, David (Lisa) Kovach, Christopher (Amy) Kovach, Jason (April) Prosek, Jared Prosek, Jillian Prosek, Matthew (Maryjane Bellock) Hall, and Kimberly (Jimmy) Lavery; great-grandchildren, Taylor (Justin), Gabriel, Tatiana, Leah, Lindsey, Lacey, Poppy, and Raymond; great-great-grandchild, River; and many other loving family. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Rudolph Olah; 2nd husband, Robert Broady; parents, John and Ilona Lengyel; brother, John Lengel, and sister, Viola Besenyei. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A celebration of life service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2023 at the funeral home. A private interment will be in Mentor Cemetery at a later date.
