James A. Drummond

James A. Drummond, 68, of Painesville Twp., passed away June 8, 2023 at Lake West Medical Center, Willoughby. He was born April 25, 1955 in Evanston, Illinois, just outside Chicago, to the late John and Ruth Drummond. The family moved to the Cleveland area in 1962, living in Lyndhurst, then Highland Heights. A Mayfield High School graduate, Jim was a bright student and enjoyed school. At an early age he became interested in music and learned to play guitar. He was talented and played in several wedding bands throughout the 70’s and 80’s. He had also toured the country with the youth musical group, “Up With People”. Jim was adept at computer programming even at the infancy of the craft. After pursuing an Economics degree at Ohio University and Cleveland State, he obtained employment with Bailey Controls in Wickliffe, Ohio, where he worked as a programmer and analyst for years. Later, he started working in retail office supplies and technical equipment sales where he enjoyed and excelled at helping people solve their technical problems. Jim loved family events like holidays and parties, and although he attended whenever he could, he was seldom on time – a trait he displayed throughout his life. Jim leaves his daughter, Liana, who he cherished and loved spending time with. Of the many things he will be remembered for, above all, Jim was always, always kind. Survivors include his daughter, Liana Joy Drummond; siblings, Ken (Mickey) Drummond, Terri Beresid, Sue Fleschner and Mary Jo (Ron) Hudak; ex-wife, Melinda Bloom and many nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. A funeral service will begin at 8:00 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2023 at the funeral home.
