Jane T. (Rumpf) Mauter

Jane T. (Rumpf) Mauter, age 87, of Mentor, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2016 with family by her side at Brookdale at Newell Creek. She was born August 8, 1928 in Toledo and moved to Mentor in 1958. Mrs. Mauter was a homemaker, and worked as a Secretary for Mentor Schools from 1975-1980. She then worked for The City of Mentor as the Cultural Activities Coordinator for Wildwood Cultural Center from 1981 – 1994. She served on the City of Mentor Community Arts Commission, Mentor Senior Center and Mentor Performing Arts. She has been a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Mentor since 1958. She was involved with the Bereavement Ministry of St. Mary’s Parish and Christ Child of the Western Reserve. She was also a Girl Scout Troop Leader at St. Mary’s from 1965-1966. Jane lived and loved life thru her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing bridge, golf, water aerobics, and aiding the underprivileged. She absolutely loved the camaraderie of her friends. Survivors include her children Michael (Barbara) Mauter of Keller, TX, Marcia Mauter of Cleveland Hts., John (Lynn) Mauter of Kirtland, James (Bridgette) Mauter of Painesville Twp. and Mary Kay (Scott) Carter of Southborough, MA grandchildren: Laura (Jonathan) Ramirez, Meagan (Daniel Colvard) Mauter, Melissa Mauter, Justin Mauter, Hannah Mauter, Zachary Mauter, Zane Mauter, Logan Carter and Nohl Carter. Preceding her in death is her first husband of 40 years Donald J. Mauter; second husband of 5 years William J. “Bill” Esselstyn; parents: Albert and Sylvia Rumpf; three brothers: Robert, Richard and Norman Rumpf and son-in- law Lester Stumpe. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, 2016 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 8560 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27, 2016 and from 9:30 a.m-10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH 44060. Burial will be in All Souls Cemetery, Chardon.
