John C. Shea

John C. Shea, age 88 of Painesville, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at UH Tri-Point Medical Center, Concord Twp., OH. He was born November 23, 1936 in Cleveland. Mr. Shea was a retired manager for Ekohwerks in Willoughby, Ohio. John was a US Navy veteran. He was a longtime member of St. Gabriel Parrish, where he was a volunteer, and sang in the choir for a time. He loved his Friday golf outings with his buddies and his son in law Rob, WWII memorabilia, and mystery novels. His Thanksgiving rutabagas were second to none. He was a big-time tinkerer, and his grandchildren often said that there was nothing that Papa could not fix. John was a talented piano player and often entertained his family after a gathering. He often said that he could recite all the Disney Princess movies by heart because he had watched them with his grandchildren so many times. But nothing surpassed the love he had for his family and his beloved wife Phyllis. His hearty laugh, sage advice, big hugs, and warm smile will be forever missed. Survivors include his wife of 45 years Phyllis (Stavicki) Shea, children: Debra Erwin, Jeff (Fran) Shea, Lori (Drake) Rittenhouse, Pam (Rob) Claxton, Kelly (John) Grimes, Bill Shea, Dan (Anne) Shea, Kacey Shea and Richard Shea; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and siblings Marilyn Blum, Susan Hollmeyer, James (Kathleen) Shea and Dennis Shea. Preceding John in death are daughters, Jayne Campbell and Jeanne Murray, and parents Clement and Grace Shea. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at St. Gabriel Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord, OH 44077. A private family inurnment will take place at All Souls Cemetery, Chardon, OH. Any flowers may be sent to St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Twp, Ohio 44077.
