John Phillip Elsbury

John Phillip Elsbury, age 57 of Mentor passed away Friday May 25, 2018. He was born December 25, 1960 in Cleveland, Ohio. John worked at H.C Stark in Euclid, Ohio. He started his career at H.C Stark in July of 1977 and retired in November of 2017. John was a plant scheduler and loved his job. John enjoyed many activities. He especially loved going on vacation, going camping, and on picnics all with his family. He loved being outside and visiting with his neighbors. John also loved attending to his garden. He loved canning the vegetables and having them for later in the season. John was also an avid football fan and loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved going to Pittsburgh to watch the games but was also just as happy to stay at home and watch them with his family and friends. He loved to cook and bake and was famous in the family for his apple cake and zucchini bread. John also loved making his daughter, Erikka pancakes on the weekends. One of John's proudest moments was when Erikka became a nurse in December of 2016. Survivors include his daughter Erikka Elsbury (Madison, Ohio), his former wife Linda Elsbury, his stepchildren: Melissa "Missy" (Mike) Kosiewicz, Pamela Cooper, and Ricky (Amy) McDonald, 7 grandchildren: Jonathon, Tyler, and Cassandra Carpenter, Curtis Occhionero, Corey, Ricky and Riley McDonald. Two great-grandchildren James Carpenter and Asher McDonald, mother: Gertrude Elsbury, siblings: Georgeanne (Kevin) McNeil, Gail Elsbury, James Elsbury, Joseph Elsbury and his granddogs Bella and Ellie. John also had aunts and uncles and several nieces and nephews. Preceding John in death are his grandchildren: Joanne and Micheal McDonald, father: John P Elsbury and grandparents: George and Doris Kochis The family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor, OH. 44060. Funeral service will be 9:30 am Thursday, May 31, 2018, at the funeral home.
